Rover: Some Design Decisions

5th grade made some strategic decisions today. They have concluded their rover will have four wheels.

Front wheels are to be smaller than the rear wheels. Sizes, thickness, etc. to come. They are testing Uphill speeds, Downhill speeds, traction and a bunch of other important drag concepts.

Wheels should be round.

The chassis will be 61 cm X 61 cm X 63.5 cm. They are working a prototype to ensure that all the necessary components fit.

The transmission has concluded they will use a solid single point rear axle and use the front axle for turning and maneuvering. They need to determine length based on Tire / Chassis decisions and how to turn the axle. The current recommendation is one piece axle with steering in the middle.
